Welcome to another episode of Wellness Minute, your go-to source for quick and practical wellness tips. I’m Dr Brent Johnson, and today, we’re going to talk about something that affects us all—posture.

Good posture is about more than just standing up straight. It’s about aligning your body so that you can move efficiently and comfortably throughout your day. Whether you’re sitting, standing, or even sleeping, your posture plays a crucial role in your overall health.

When your posture is out of alignment, it can lead to a host of issues, including back and neck pain, headaches, and even fatigue. Poor posture can also affect your breathing and digestion, making it harder for your body to function at its best.

So, what can you do to improve your posture? The first step is becoming aware of it. Take a moment right now to check in with your body. Are your shoulders slouched? Is your head jutting forward? Is your lower back rounded? If so, you’re not alone—these are common posture pitfalls that many of us fall into, especially when we’re sitting for long periods.

To correct your posture, start by sitting or standing tall. Imagine a string pulling you up from the top of your head. Roll your shoulders back and down, and engage your core muscles to support your lower back. When sitting, make sure your feet are flat on the ground and your knees are at a 90-degree angle.

Small adjustments like these can make a big difference in how you feel by the end of the day. Over time, good posture can reduce pain, improve your energy levels, and even boost your confidence.
